“POP PERFECTION” Yellow Claw Surprise With Sultry, Brooding Track ‘Home’

Featuring emotive vocals from Sophie Simmons, “Home” is the opening track off Yellow Claw‘s danceable Los Amsterdam, out today (Mar. 31). Chugging guitars, wide-spread reverb, and a laid-back feel dominate the standout song.

The Amsterdam DJ duo make a bold move kicking off their highly anticipated full-length with such a melodic track. There’s no drop, no monster synths, no aggressive white-noise sweeps… none of the stereotypical dance-pop cliches that have plagued radio releases for years. Instead, Yellow Claw allow Simmons’ breathy vocals to carry the melodic tune.

Set over a bed of ’80s nostalgia, Simmons’ refrain of “Tell me [esq] a story, make up the pieces / Tell me what you want me to do / Moving closer, I’m sick of the distance / Tell me what you want me to do / ‘Cause I’m here for you,” is especially poignant.

We’re sure the song will be remixed into club-hell oblivion before long, but for now enjoy this little piece of pop perfection.
